Vow Of Silence

The vow if silence we had to take was very challenging for me because I am a very talkative person. I thought the activity was very cool and that we should do something like that again. If I had to take a whole day without talking I think that I would not be able to do it. I had a lot of trouble to even finish this two period silence.

Notes

Bathing
1. People bathed once a month
2. People wore the same clothes day after day, they only had one outfit.
3. They used lavender flowers and mint in the water for cleaning. These were used to keep the fleas away because they had a lot of animals and straw in their houses.

Chairman
1. At night time people would pile onto a mattress- a lump of straw on the floor. The whole family slept in the same bed (Mom, Dad, Sisters, Brothers). If an animal was freindly they may sleep in the bed-to keep you warm of course.

Troubadours
1. Troubadours travled from town to town "singing for their supper".
2. His songs were often about love or the glory of kings.

Notes

Alfred the Great was the first Anglo-Saxon King.
Edward the Confessor was the last Anglo-Saxon king.
Edward did not have an heir so there was going to be a war.

The battle Hastings and the Duke of Normandy won so hes was nicknamed William the Conqueror.
William wanted to take quick action so he collected a sensus, he was the first to do that.
The sensus would keep track of everything in your household, which led to your specific tax.
April 15th is tax day.
William was replaced by Henry the 1st.
He was replaced by Henry the 2nd.
Henry and his best friend Thimas Becket were arguing over Henry's idea on the church paying taxes like eveybody else. This conversation got very heated and after Thomas stormed out Henry said that he wished Thomas was dead, the three knights that were easedropping took it upon themselves to make his wishes come true. So they followed Thomas to a church where they stabbed him repeadedly on Christmas Eve.
John, Henry's son, sucseaded him.
King John was a very feisty leader who went to many wars. To go to war you need money, so he taxed the people of England 87%
England's people met at Runnyknee, where they came up with the Magna Carta.
King John had to sign it which led to our US constitutution.
The Magna Carta was and is a very important document in our law and there law system. It meant that the King had to abide by the law and the taxes could not be changed unless the proposal was changed.

Visiting Greece

I would visit Greece because I feel it is the most historic and artificial country of all of the ones presented. I would like to go to Athens and think back to the Olympics and go to all of the museums and buildings. The Parthenon would be really nice to visit, and I would really like to see all of the scenery there.
