Declaration of Independence

As I confidently walked up to the podium, I noticed everybody's eyes were on me. I grabbed the quill from the ink and lightly dabbed it onto the scrap paper. I thought everybody could hear my heart thudding in my chest. I looked at the parchment and couldn't help but notice the beautiful red velvet linens behind it. As the ink hit the Declaration everyone scooted forward in their seats to witness what would later be called the most famous document signing ever. I was not the first to sign, that honor was handed to John Hancock. When I signed the parchment though, it felt like this was the most important thing I had ever done in my life. After I was done I stepped down, smiled at the large crowd, and then took my seat. I sat in my seat watching history unfold right in front of me. As I sat there I thought back to when I was drafting this and how it is going to change everything that will happen in the future. I was in such a daze that I lost track of time and when I returned to reality the signing was over and everybody was shaking hands and saying their goodbyes.
